Meeting someone from the internet can be fun and exciting, but it also poses risks. Many people assume that the safest way to go about this is to take someone with you. This isn’t always the case, and it can actually make for an awkward first meeting. Here are some ideas to keep you safe when you meet someone for the first time.
Busy Public Places
If you don’t want to take someone with you for your first meeting, swingers parties. make a great place for a first meet, lots of people and nobody will notice if you get frisky, make sure you meet up at a location that is fairly busy. Don’t make plans to go out with them late at night, and don’t make plans to go out after the initial meeting no matter how well things went. Busy coffee shops and bakeries are a good place for a first time meeting. These are non-intimidating, and usually small enough that people are going to see you and your date there.
Make It A Double
If you must take someone with you for your first meeting, let the other person know up front this is your plan. Invite them to bring a friend as well. This will make it much less awkward. If you just show up for your meeting with a friend, it will throw the other person off guard. They may feel like they can’t be themselves and may feel like they are being ganged up on. Make it fair if you must bring someone with you.
Be Smart
If you aren’t bringing someone with you, make sure that someone at least knows what your plans are. Let a close friend know when you are meeting and where. It’s also not a bad idea to have them call you about an hour after the meeting is scheduled. This way you can reassure them that you are alright, and let the person you are meeting know that someone is checking up on you.
